A Brief History of Charitable Gaming in Mississippi
The Mississippi Legislature legalized Charitable Gaming with the passage of the Charitable Bingo Law during its regular session in 1992. The law went into effect October 1, 1992.
The Charitable Gaming Law authorized the play of bingo in order to fund groups, associations or clubs that are registered with the Secretary of States Office as non-profit organizations. It also limits the times and number of games that are allowable each day and week.
The first bingo hall opened in October of 1992 and is conducted in about half of the counties of Mississippi.
